    School shooting in Connecticut

    Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...washingtonpost

Been watching this throughout the day. Fucking sick to my stomach this happened in Connecticut. One of my co-workers had a kid at the school. Her kids okay, thankfully, but sadly 18 elementary school kids are dead.

I try to avoid this stuff on the news, it's really sad and what is worse is there's a TON more that goes on throughout the world every day that we don't hear about. There are a lot of really screwed up people in the world, nothing new (and unfortunately not a whole lot we can do to change it) -but this sure sells news papers :annoyed:

That's pretty fucked up, it's all the radio is talking about over here in California. Nothing good to say about it.

It's a fucked up world we live in.

Give it a few more hours before this tragedy becomes nothing more than a political weapon to attack video games and the second amendment.

Pretty much describes Connecticut at times. Hell, in my city some guy stabbed a couple people because they laughed at his fart.

My thoughts go out to the parents and family's effected by this evil act of terrorism.
But you Americans have to stop for a moment and think is legalizing guns really the best thing for your nation? If i remember correctly the was a shoot up in a mall this week too.
We in Britian don't get this sort of crime and it's because possession of a fire arm is highly illegal and you get a hefty prison sentence for it.

Goes back to the old saying:
If guns are illegal, only criminals will have them.

    Re: School shooting in Connecticut

No offense to the Brits, but, I'd rather take my chances then not be able or carry a firearm.
Let's be real about things, stuff like this happens everyday all over the world. The reason this bothers everyone so much is because its not seen everyday by anyone living in a prominent civilized country. The fact that kids were involved elevates the OMFG WTF happened factor greatly. Stuff like this happens everyday across the world in greater numbers then this. The people pulling the triggers don't care man, woman, or child. They have their motives bet it power, politics, or money. We just don't hear or see it because well the powers that be chose for no one to hear or see it. We see what are shown, most of the time it's for a reason. Guns are a funny thing, they protect or they kill. Its about the person behind the gun that matters most.

Freedom has its consequences. Do you want your government to tell you how to live or do you want to decide for yourself? Giving up your guns is giving up your true ability to have a say quite frankly. This topic I guess is a sensitive one because either way you look at it it can work either way. For me personally I've traveled quite a bit through work and other means. Safety is a state of mind when all is said and done. We as humans adapt to our surroundings. With cohesion and stability a sense of safety is found. When you throw a monkey wrench into that state of mind like a bombing fear is induced. With fear you have a few problems to contend with. Will the government try to use this as an asset and write up a bill that gives them even more power because they do it in the name of the people? Will the people give up their freedoms for this perceived threat or will they come together and become more vigilant and continue on with their own thoughts and decisions? I think we are all reasonable for our actions, their are crazy people in the world.
It's just something we as humans need to deal with. We are not perfect, we are all different and we all have our own reasons and motives for the things we do and do not do.

I ranted i know, touchy subject for me
